MicroStrategy Sells Over 1,600 BTC, Expands USD Reserve by $250 Million
MicroStrategy has been making significant moves to strengthen its balance sheet and manage its Bitcoin holdings. The company sold over 1,600 BTC between July 27 and August 2 at an average price of $63,957, generating approximately $105 million in revenue. This sale was part of the firm's strategy to reduce its Bitcoin exposure and increase its cash reserves.
Despite selling a substantial amount of Bitcoin, MicroStrategy has continued to expand its USD reserve by adding $250 million, bringing the total to $4 billion. The company has also repurchased approximately $81 million worth of its Variable Rate Series A Perpetual Stretch Preferred Stock (STRC).
The transactions are aimed at strengthening the firm's balance sheet and reducing its reliance on selling Bitcoin during periods of market stress. According to Michael Saylor, MicroStrategy will use its dollar reserve primarily to cover preferred-stock dividends and debt interest.
