MicroStrategy Stock Remains Vulnerable Despite Recent Rebound
MicroStrategy's (NASDAQ:MSTR) stock price has been volatile lately, and some analysts believe it remains structurally vulnerable. Despite a recent sharp rebound this month, the company's stock is still trading at $119.25, which is near its previous low. This is due in part to the company's exposure to Bitcoin's (CRYPTO:BTC) drawdown, as well as its balance sheet, which is built on continuous capital markets access.
The company, now rebranded as Strategy, is the world's largest corporate Bitcoin holder, with 846,000 Bitcoins. It has funded its accumulation through equity offerings, convertible notes, and preferred instruments. The legacy analytics business of MicroStrategy is small and shifting to cloud subscriptions. A violent round trip in Bitcoin prices has contributed to an $8.32 billion unrealized loss last quarter.
However, some analysts believe that the company's stock price could recover if Bitcoin recovers its prior highs. In Q3 2025, a similar Bitcoin move produced a $3.89 billion unrealized gain and swung EPS to $8.42. Analyst support remains intact, with subscription software revenue growing 54% year over year and convertible debt falling 18% to $6.7 billion.
On the other hand, bears see a debt-funded Bitcoin bag due to the company's severe dilution. MicroStrategy has issued $25.3 billion of equity in 2025, which is compounded by another $8.41 billion via ATM in Q2 alone. The board authorized selling up to $1.25 billion of Bitcoin to fund the reserve, injecting forced-seller risk into the asset anchoring the equity story.
