MicroStrategy Trades Tightly in August as Investors Watch Bitcoin Price
MicroStrategy (NASDAQ: MSTR), formerly known as Strategy, began August after a 5% drop in July, trading within a tight range as investors wait for the next major price move.
The company sold 1,638 Bitcoin between July 27 and August 2, generating approximately $104.73 million at an average price of $63,957 per Bitcoin. This sale was notable because Strategy is known for accumulating Bitcoin rather than reducing its holdings.
Instead of using the proceeds to buy more Bitcoin, the company directed the funds toward corporate obligations. Around $52.4 million went to preferred dividend payments, while another $52.3 million funded the repurchase of STRC preferred shares through its Digital Credit Securities Repurchase Program.
Despite reporting an $8.22 billion quarterly loss, analysts remain positive on MSTR, citing the company's steady software revenue growth and growing cash reserves. In fact, Strategy generated about $122.4 million in revenue during the quarter, up 6.9% from the same period last year.
