MicroStrategy's $8B Bitcoin-Driven Loss Sparks Concerns
MicroStrategy, a Nasdaq-listed company formerly known as MicroStrategy, reported a net loss of $8.22 billion for the second quarter of 2026 due to the decline in Bitcoin's price. The company continued to raise capital and buy more BTC during this period, while also paying down debt.
In its quarterly report, Strategy attributed the loss to the falling Bitcoin price, which has dropped nearly 50% from its all-time high of $126,080 reached in October 2025. At current prices, MicroStrategy's total BTC holdings are worth around $54.6 billion.
Despite the significant decline in Bitcoin's value, Strategy CEO Phong Le stated that the company 'strengthened its balance sheet while navigating a meaningful Bitcoin price decline.' Chairman Michael Saylor emphasized that the company is continuing to evolve its business model and establish digital credit as a new asset class.
