MicroStrategy's BTC Stash Alters Market Dynamics, Clouds Price Targets
A Silicon Valley investor has sounded the alarm on Bitcoin price targets of $250,000 and beyond. Jason Calacanis believes that Michael Saylor's massive accumulation strategy with MicroStrategy has fundamentally altered market dynamics.
The company now holds over 500,000 BTC, approximately 2.5% of total supply, which has raised questions about real market liquidity and price volatility.
Calacanis argues that the traditional rules of supply and demand no longer apply due to Saylor's continuous institutional buying, funded through share issuances and convertible bonds.
This setup creates an asymmetric risk if MicroStrategy were forced to liquidate a portion of its holdings, potentially having a devastating impact on the BTC price.
