MicroStrategy's Cash Reserve Sends Bitcoin-Linked Shares Soaring
Michael Saylor's strategy is paying off for MicroStrategy (MSTR), as shares of the company rose 5.1% to $125.38 on Monday after setting aside about $1.6 billion in cash for future treasury operations, including potential Bitcoin purchases.
The new cash pool, dubbed 'USD Cash', can be used for Bitcoin buys, share repurchases, and other corporate events, giving the company more flexibility to navigate market downturns.
Bitcoin (BTC) itself approached the $80,000 mark last week for the first time since mid-May, but despite the rally, MSTR is still down about 18% year-to-date and 65% over the past year.
