Microstrategy's MSTR Stock Rises as Company Holds onto $65.8 Billion in BTC
Microstrategy's (MSTR) stock price has risen in recent days as the company continues to hold onto its significant Bitcoin holdings. The company sold approximately $2 billion worth of shares between August 17 and 23, with proceeds used to strengthen its liquidity position.
The company allocated around $136.4 million to repurchase its STRC preferred stock and another $300 million to its US dollar reserve, bringing the total to $5.1 billion. The remaining $1.59 billion was placed into a newly established USD Cash pool, providing 'a more flexible source of liquidity' for future needs.
Microstrategy's Bitcoin holdings remain unchanged at 840,447 BTC, acquired at an average price of $75,385 per coin with a total cost of around $63.4 billion. At current prices, the holdings are worth roughly $65.8 billion, representing about $2.4 billion in paper gains.
Analysts from Bernstein noted that Microstrategy's balance sheet has stabilized following recent pressure and that the company had sold only around 0.8% of its Bitcoin holdings in recent weeks while seeking to strengthen dividend reserves and support STRC buybacks.
