Midnight's NIGHT Token Redemption Process: A Guide to Thawing and Collecting
The Cardano network's privacy-focused project Midnight has a complex process for redeeming tokens called NIGHT, which were allocated to users through the Glacier Drop in autumn 2025. These tokens are not automatically available and must be collected through a portal over a period of 360 days.
The allocation is divided into four equal tranches, each representing 25% of the total amount, with a random start day for each user between December 10, 2025, and early March 2026. The remaining three tranches follow at intervals of 90 days each, ending on December 4, 2026.
A key aspect is that every allocation has a unique schedule, making it impossible to determine when a tranche will be available based on public announcements or other users' experiences. To check the status of one's tranches, users must enter their destination address into the portal.
The process for redeeming NIGHT tokens involves actively pulling each tranche through the portal, with no automatism in place to trigger payouts once a lock expires. Users who made claims in autumn 2025 and have not checked since may be sitting on multiple due tranches without realizing it.
