Midterm Elections: A Historical Pattern that Could Boost Bitcoin's Price

Bitcoin's price has historically been affected by US midterm elections, according to an interesting strategy outlined by CryptoGoos. The analyst suggests that instead of relying on complicated indicators or metrics, investors should look at past election years for signals.

The pattern shows that Bitcoin has struggled during every midterm election year before recovering strongly once the vote was out of the way. Looking at 2014, 2018, and 2022, we see that all three were 'ugly' years for BTC. In 2014, it had already collapsed following the 2013 bull market, while in 2018 it plummeted from $20,000 to under $3,500.

Similarly, in 2022, the asset entered another downturn amid aggressive Fed rate hikes and a broader crypto credit crisis. The similarities with 2026 are hard to ignore, as BTC remains far below its October 2025 all-time high despite its recent recovery.

The strategy suggests that investors should accumulate BTC now ahead of the midterms, with the first sales starting next year, followed by a more significant dump in 2028 and another 25% offload in 2029. The average subsequent gain after the vote has been over 50%, according to data tracking the previous three cycles.
