Millionaires Face BTC Affordability Crunch
Crypto exchange Binance's founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) warns that millionaires may struggle to buy Bitcoin soon due to its limited supply and lost coins. As of August 2026, over 20.07 million BTC have been mined, leaving only 4.4% of the maximum supply available for mining.
CZ estimates that 10-20% of existing Bitcoins are lost forever or locked and unavailable for circulation, further reducing the number of tokens that can be purchased.
Crypto analyst Quinten François pointed out that even if all Bitcoins were distributed among American millionaires, each would receive less than one BTC, approximately 0.85 coins.
Zhao agrees with this conclusion and notes that most long-term holders do not intend to sell or move their coins, which exacerbates the shortage.
