Minnesota Bans Cryptocurrency Kiosks Amid Money Laundering Concerns

The state of Minnesota has implemented a new law banning cryptocurrency kiosks, also known as Bitcoin ATMs. Officials from the city claim that the machines are being used for illicit activities, such as money laundering and terrorist financing.

Council member Mark Stenglein stated, 'We're not prohibiting people from buying or selling cryptocurrencies, we're just saying you can't do it through these kiosks.'

The law aims to reduce the risk of financial crimes associated with cryptocurrency transactions. However, some businesses and enthusiasts argue that the ban is too broad and will have unintended consequences.
