Mirae Asset Aims for $109 Billion Digital Assets Empire
Mirae Asset has set its sights on expanding its digital asset business to reach $109 billion in value. The group acquired a significant stake in Digital X, formerly Korbit, for 141.4 billion won, and plans to leverage its 1,500 trillion won in client assets to achieve this target.
The company's strategy involves building businesses across various areas of digital assets, including cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, real-world assets (RWAs), and tokenised securities. Mirae Asset aims to make Digital X a core pillar of 'Mirae Asset 3.0' and grow the business to 150 trillion won by utilizing its existing client assets.
Park stated that the initial goal is to make Digital X a key part of the company's new strategy, and to grow the digital asset business to 150 trillion won by leveraging the group's 1,500 trillion won in client assets. Mirae Asset also plans to tokenise assets such as gold, silver, and electricity, taking advantage of South Korea's upcoming rules on tokenised securities.
The company aims to make its digital asset operations profitable by 2027, but has not set a specific deadline for reaching the $109 billion target.
