Mirae Asset Aims for $109B Digital X Expansion
Mirae Asset Financial Group has outlined plans to expand its Digital X business into a massive digital-asset platform, with a target of reaching $109 billion in scale. The company's chairman and founder, Park Hyeon-joo, presented the strategy to employees on August 27, setting a goal for Digital X to become profitable by 2027.
The roadmap focuses on four key areas: cryptocurrency, stablecoins, real-world asset tokenization, and security token offerings. Mirae plans to explore tokenizing physical assets like precious metals and electricity, while connecting them to an on-chain finance ecosystem.
Mirae's acquisition of a 97% stake in Korbit in July marked the beginning of this new initiative. The company's existing financial services network will support Digital X, which is expected to become a major player in South Korea's digital-asset market.
