Mirae Asset Chairman Vows to Shake Up Korea's Crypto Market
Mirae Asset Chairman Park Hyeon-joo has expressed confidence in DigitalX's potential to revolutionize Korea's crypto market. Speaking to Seoul Economic Daily, he described DigitalX as a platform that will 'bring about a sea change' in the digital-asset industry.
DigitalX currently holds only 0.5% of the market share, but analysts believe Park's statement reflects his intent to develop the exchange into a key bridgehead for Mirae Asset 3.0, the group's medium- to long-term growth strategy centered on global and digital platforms.
Park also addressed industry concerns that DigitalX's decision to offer zero trading fees on all won-market coins for one year amounts to self-destructive competition. He described it as a 'client alliance' aimed at realizing Mirae Asset Group's 'Client First' philosophy in the crypto industry, by helping establish an investment culture that clients have not previously experienced.
Mirae Asset plans to leverage its vast capital, client network, and sales know-how to raise DigitalX's profile and expand its influence in the crypto market. The group has already injected additional funds into DigitalX, with a third-party allotment rights offering worth about 50 billion won ($36 million) being taken up in full by Mirae Asset Consulting.
