Mirae Asset Secures Korbit Majority Stake with $93M Acquisition

Mirae Asset Consulting has agreed to acquire majority control of South Korean cryptocurrency exchange Korbit through a $93 million cash transaction. The financial services affiliate plans to purchase 26.9 million shares for 133.48 billion won, giving it a 92.06% ownership stake in the exchange.

The deal aims to secure future growth through digital asset operations, according to Mirae Asset's regulatory filing. Korbit returned to profitability in its most recent fiscal year, reporting revenue of 8.7 billion won and a net profit of 9.8 billion won.

NXC and subsidiary Simple Capital Futures currently own approximately 60.5% of Korbit, while SK Square holds an additional 31.5% stake. The exchange operates with full licensing and compliance infrastructure under South Korean regulations.
