Mirae Asset Targets $109 Billion Digital Asset Business with Tokenization Plans
Mirae Asset has set its sights on establishing a $109 billion digital asset business, spanning cryptocurrency, stablecoins, real-world assets, and tokenized securities. The South Korean financial group plans to develop this new strategy around four key areas: cryptocurrency, stablecoins, real-world assets, and security token offerings.
As part of its growth plan, Mirae Asset acquired 97.15% of the former Korbit exchange for 141.4 billion won in July. The exchange has since been rebranded as Digital X and will serve as a central part of Mirae Asset's next growth strategy.
The group plans to digitize physical assets such as gold, silver, and electricity through tokenization. Trading fees on won-denominated assets have been waived at Digital X until August 2027 in an effort to attract activity before the planned products arrive.
