Mirae Asset Targets $109 Billion with Digital X Expansion

Share

Mirae Asset, a South Korean financial group, is expanding its control of the Digital X exchange to create a large-scale digital asset platform. According to The Korea Times, the company aims to reach a business value of 150 trillion won (approximately $109 billion) through this expansion.

The plan follows Mirae Asset Consulting's acquisition of a controlling 97.15% stake in Korbit last July for a total of 141.4 billion won. After the takeover, Korbit was rebranded as Digital X. The exchange has already started waiving trading fees for won-denominated assets, with this policy set to continue until August 24, 2027.

Digital X's expansion will focus on cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, real-world assets (RWAs), and security token offerings (STOs). The company is also considering tokenizing physical assets such as gold, silver, and electricity. This move would position Digital X at the intersection of tokenization narratives and tangible-asset markets.
