Mirae Asset Unveils $108B Digital Asset Push with Digital X
Mirae Asset Group has outlined an ambitious plan to build its digital asset business to 150 trillion won ($108 billion) and turn it profitable by 2027. The group will use Digital X, a recently acquired crypto exchange, as the central part of its 'Mirae Asset 3.0' strategy.
The company plans to expand across various areas, including cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, real-world assets (RWAs), and tokenized securities. Mirae Asset aims to develop financial products and services that can operate through blockchain networks while using principal investment to support its digital asset operations.
Park Hyeon-joo, Mirae Asset Group Chairman and Global Strategy Officer, said during an event for Digital X employees that the company will 'make Digital X a key pillar of Mirae Asset 3.0.' The group's strategy includes developing tokenized securities, stablecoins, and RWAs, with plans to digitize physical assets such as gold, silver, and electricity.
The Financial Services Commission in South Korea has been working on a legal framework for blockchain-issued securities, which is expected to recognize distributed ledger systems within regulated securities infrastructure. The new rules are set to take effect in 2027, aligning with Mirae Asset's target for profitability.
