Mirae Asset Unveils Ambitious Plan for $109 Billion Crypto Empire
Financial giant Mirae Asset is aiming to build a massive digital asset business worth over $109 billion, with a focus on stablecoins and tokenized assets. The company plans to achieve this through its Digital X platform, which will serve as the hub for its comprehensive blockchain finance services.
Digital X, formerly known as Korbit, has already been acquired by Mirae Asset Consulting, with the latter holding 97.15% of the shares. Park Hyeon-joo, the chairman and founder of Digital X, presented the company's plans to employees in Seoul, outlining its vision for a unified platform that combines traditional financial assets with digital assets.
The company's strategy emphasizes the tokenization of physical assets, including gold, silver, and electricity. Mirae Asset aims to launch financial products based on these digital assets and make investments in its own products. The long-term goal is to create a seamless experience for users to interact with both traditional and digital assets.
To achieve this vision, Mirae Asset plans to inject up to 300 billion won ($218 million) into Digital X. The company also aims to become profitable by 2027, with the possibility of securing additional funding through third-party allotments in the first quarter of that year.
