Mirae Asset Unveils Ambitious Plan for Digital X Exchange

Share

Mirae Asset, a South Korean financial group, is aiming to turn its Digital X exchange into a large-scale digital asset platform. The goal is to achieve 150 trillion won ($109 billion) in business value, according to The Korea Times. This ambitious plan builds on Mirae Asset Consulting's acquisition of Korbit in July last year, which was rebranded as Digital X.

The strategy focuses on cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, real-world assets (RWAs), and security token offerings (STOs). Digital X is also considering tokenizing physical assets such as gold, silver, and electricity. This move positions the exchange at the intersection of tokenization narratives and tangible-asset markets, where product design, custody, and regulatory treatment can be complex.

The exchange has already started waiving trading fees for won-denominated assets, with the zero-fee period planned through August 24, 2027. Mirae Asset founder and chairman Park Hyeon-joo reportedly discussed the initiative at an employee event in Seoul, positioning Digital X as a core component of 'Mirae Asset 3.0.'
