Missouri Men Charged in Violent Carjacking Linked to Cryptocurrency Heist
Three men from Missouri have been charged in connection with a violent carjacking and kidnapping in Danbury, Connecticut. The incident was allegedly linked to an attempted robbery over cryptocurrency.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Connecticut announced that six Florida men were arrested on August 25, 2024, for their involvement in the carjacking and beating of a husband and wife. The victims were the parents of an individual who allegedly participated in the theft of hundreds of millions of dollars in Bitcoin.
A grand jury in New Haven returned a second superseding indictment charging Sedric Louis, John Davis, and Martel Williams with conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, which carries a maximum term of 20 years in prison. The indictment alleges that the three men were recruited to help steal some of the Bitcoin.
The investigation has been conducted by the FBI New Haven Violent Crimes Task Force, FBI Los Angeles, FBI St. Louis, and the Danbury Police Department.
