Missouri Trio Charged in Failed Bitcoin Heist
Three Missouri men have been charged with attempting to force a Connecticut couple's son to surrender stolen Bitcoin. Sedric Louis, John Davis, and Martel Williams allegedly traveled from Missouri to Connecticut between August 21st and August 24th, 2024.
The group rented vehicles, obtained air rifles and walkie-talkies, and followed the intended target and his parents for two days.
Prosecutors say they planned to storm the family's home, threaten the target, and compel him to transfer stolen cryptocurrency into wallets controlled by the operation's coordinators.
However, the three men abandoned their attempt after becoming concerned that they were recorded by home-security cameras and frustrated by poor communication with their alleged co-conspirators.
