Mistral, HUMAIN Partner on Sovereign AI Infrastructure in Saudi Arabia

Mistral, a French open-source AI laboratory, has partnered with HUMAIN, an AI company under the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), to build sovereign AI infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and beyond. The collaboration aims to meet growing demand for 'sovereign AI', where data is not controlled by third-party companies and models can be owned under open-weight conditions.

The partnership will focus on developing and localizing advanced models, deploying AI solutions within the region, and conducting joint market promotions in regulated industries. The first batch of results will cover network security and voice recognition, involving regional reasoning, open models, and cutting-edge Arabic language models.

HUMAIN has accumulated a year's worth of construction experience. In November 2025, it expanded its cooperation with NVIDIA, planning to deploy up to 600,000 NVIDIA AI systems within three years, including the GB300 platform. Additionally, HUMAIN reached agreements with xAI and AWS, securing a data center protocol and management rights for 150,000 GPUs in Riyadh's AI Zone.
