MKR Surges 11% Amid Renewed Interest in MakerDAO
MakerDAO's governance token MKR surged 11% on Thursday, becoming the top performer in crypto markets despite widespread losses. The price increase coincided with a significant spike in network activity, according to blockchain analytics firm Santiment.
The active address count for MKR hit a weekly high of 498 addresses, an 8% daily increase that represents the highest level of engagement with the MakerDAO ecosystem in seven days.
An uptick in daily active address count suggests growing demand as more market participants engage in transactions. This is reflected in the token's price surge to $1,485, a seven-day high.
The shift in profit-taking behavior among existing token holders has also contributed to the rally. MakerDAO's Network Realized Profit/Loss metric has turned negative, falling to -233,000 at press time. This indicates that current sellers are liquidating positions at a loss, reducing selling pressure.
