MKR Surges 11% as MakerDAO Network Activity Hits Weekly High
MakerDAO's governance token MKR surged 11% on Thursday, becoming the top performer in the crypto market as network activity reached a weekly high. This price increase coincided with significant growth in trading activity, indicating renewed interest in the decentralized finance protocol during an otherwise turbulent week for cryptocurrency markets.
The active address count increased by 8% to 498 addresses in 24 hours, marking the highest level of network participation in seven days. According to blockchain analytics firm Santiment, this uptick in daily active address count suggests growing demand as more market participants engage in transactions.
MakerDAO's Network Realized Profit/Loss metric has turned negative, falling to -233,000 at press time. This indicates that current sellers are liquidating positions at a loss, a situation that historically reduces selling pressure as investors become reluctant to exit positions below their entry price.
