MOEX to Launch Perpetual Futures Linked to Bitcoin and Ether in September
Russia's Moscow Exchange (MOEX) is set to launch perpetual futures linked to Bitcoin and Ether in September, according to a report by Cryptopolitan. This move comes as Russia accelerates its institutionalization of cryptocurrency derivatives ahead of new laws related to digital assets taking effect next month.
The exchange will initially offer two perpetual futures products based on Bitcoin and Ether indices. Mariya Patrikeyeva, managing director for the derivatives division, stated that MOEX plans to steadily expand coin-based products to as many as 10.
The introduction of perpetual futures contracts with no set expiry date will allow investors to maintain positions without having to switch contracts at expiry. This is in line with MOEX's existing offering of monthly and quarterly cryptocurrency futures to professional investors since last summer.
