Moldova Cracks Down on Crypto Market with New Regulations
The Moldovan government is taking steps to regulate the cryptocurrency market by introducing new laws that will require companies operating in the country to disclose fees and risks, protect client assets, and comply with anti-money laundering requirements.
The National Commission for the Financial Market (NCFM) will review companies before granting them market access, assessing their professional competence, integrity, and reputation. Authorization is not automatic, as the regulator needs time to review the company and ensure it meets established requirements.
Significant fines are imposed for violations, up to 15% of annual turnover depending on the infraction. The law also prohibits market manipulation and the use of insider information.
