Moldovan Intelligence Uncovers Network of Russia-Funded Disinformation Operatives

Share

The Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) of Moldova is investigating a network of individuals who have been labeled 'informational mercenaries' by SIS director Alexandru Musteață.

Musteață claims that these individuals receive money to spread propaganda and disinformation in the Republic of Moldova, with some of the funding coming from cryptocurrencies.

The SIS has identified financial links leading to the Russian Federation, which suggests that Moscow is financing these operations.

Musteață stated that 'informational mercenaries' are active on social media platforms such as Telegram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube, where they spread disinformation and propaganda.
