Momentum Fades for August's Top Cryptocurrencies as Yields Climb

According to DeFiLlama's Movers tool, the momentum behind August's top-performing cryptocurrencies is beginning to fade. In a recent update, DeFiLlama showed that Zcash (ZEC), Uniswap (UNI), Hyperliquid (HYPE), XRP, and Solana (SOL) are still outperforming Bitcoin over the last month.

However, despite their impressive monthly gains, these tokens have turned negative for the past week. ZEC is the only one to show a positive performance across both time frames. The divergence is particularly interesting given the strong altcoin trend reported by Cryptopolitan earlier this month.

The data suggests that new capital played a significant role in Bitcoin's breakout in August, with daily spot volume surging 153% compared to perpetuals. Meanwhile, open interest in Bitcoin has fallen.
