Monero Surges on Privacy Coin Rotation and Technical Breakout
Monero (XMR) experienced a significant surge of 8.96% over the last 42 hours, driven by a combination of sector rotation and technical breakout.
The recent market trends show that privacy coins, such as Zcash (ZEC) and Monero (XMR), have been leading the altcoin market with gains of up to 8%. In contrast, large-cap alts like BNB and SOL gained around 5%, while Bitcoin moved about 3%.
The technical breakout in XMR occurred when it broke above resistance at $368-370, supported by both the 1-year average and the EMA200 daily. This move above the key 200-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) after a multi-month volatility squeeze near support opens a clear path toward fresh multi-month highs.
The narrative around Monero's usage, cold storage, and atomic swaps is also contributing to the surge. While individual claims about record shielded volumes or cold storage cannot be independently checked, the privacy coin narrative and Monero's structurally thin visible float make it plausible that relatively modest real demand plus a bullish story can translate into an outsized price move.
