MoneyGram Brings Ramps Directly to Solana with Global Cash Network Access

MoneyGram has launched its Ramps service directly on Solana, enabling developers to connect their applications to the company's cash-to-crypto and crypto-to-cash infrastructure through a single API. This move allows wallets, exchanges, and apps to tap into MoneyGram's existing fiat network, which spans over 25 countries for cash deposits and more than 170 countries for crypto-to-cash withdrawals.

The Ramps service is integrated into the Solana Developer Platform (SDP) and empowers developers to access MoneyGram's fiat infrastructure alongside Solana's blockchain tools. This integration follows MoneyGram's earlier move into Solana, where it became an active validator on the network and joined the SDP as an infrastructure partner.

MoneyGram Chairman and CEO Anthony Soohoo described the company's direction as 'access' - a nod to the importance of connecting on-chain value with fiat infrastructure. This strategy is in line with other payment companies, such as Western Union, which are also pushing deeper into stablecoins and blockchain settlement.
