MoneyGram Joins Stablecoin Ranks with Visa-Branded Debit Card

MoneyGram has launched a Visa-branded stablecoin debit card in collaboration with infrastructure provider Rain, marking its expansion into blockchain-based payments. This move comes on the heels of Western Union's similar announcement last month.

The MoneyGram Card will initially be available as a virtual card in Colombia and can be used through Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. A physical card option is planned for introduction later this year as the service expands to additional markets.

This development highlights the growing adoption of stablecoins in the remittance industry, with both MoneyGram and Western Union leveraging them for cross-border payments.
