MoneyGram Launches Stablecoin-Backed Visa Card, Crypto Payments in Focus
MoneyGram has launched its first stablecoin-backed Visa card, expanding its strategy beyond transfers and giving eligible users a way to spend their balance anywhere Visa is accepted. The product supports USDC at launch and lets customers hold a stable-dollar balance, making digital assets increasingly move from trading and transfers into ordinary consumer payments.
The MoneyGram Card was initially made available in Colombia on September 10 and can be managed through the MoneyGram app and added to mobile wallets for online and tap-to-pay purchases. The company intends to expand the product into additional Latin American markets after the initial launch.
DigiTap, another payment-focused platform, is targeting a similar convergence between digital assets and everyday payments. Its beta app is already downloadable through the App Store and Google Play while its token remains in presale at $0.0589 in Round 4 of 10 rounds. The current round is over 80% sold, with the next presale price increasing to $0.0594.
