MoneyGram Launches Stablecoin-Backed Visa Card in Colombia
MoneyGram has launched its first stablecoin-backed Visa card in Colombia. The new product allows customers to hold a USDC-backed stable-dollar balance, which can be spent at any Visa-accepting merchant or transferred for local currency collection through MoneyGram locations.
The digital-first rollout of the MoneyGram Card uses wallets and Stellar-linked partners, including Rain, Crossmint, and the Stellar network. At launch, customers can add their card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet and use it for purchases at Visa merchants, as well as transfer funds for local currency collection through MoneyGram locations.
According to the company's announcement, support for MoneyGram's MGUSD stablecoin has not yet been added, but is planned for late 2026. Additionally, a physical version of the card with ATM access is also planned for later this year.
