MoneyGram Opens Over Half a Million Retail Locations for Solana Developers
MoneyGram, an international remittance company, has integrated its network with Solana to provide developers with access to over 500,000 physical points of sale worldwide. This integration allows stablecoins to be converted into physical cash at hundreds of thousands of retail locations.
The CEO of MoneyGram, Anthony Soohoo, stated that the integration is designed to connect the real world with the digital world and provide developers with the infrastructure they need to build innovative applications in the payments space. He emphasized that the biggest announcement made with Solana is about access, providing developers with the ability to use MoneyGram's off-ramp services.
MoneyGram has been expanding its presence in the blockchain industry, having launched its own dollar-denominated stablecoin, MGUSD, earlier this year through infrastructure partners including Bridge, Crossmint, Fireblocks, M0 and Stellar. The company is not reacting to stablecoin pressure but rather incorporating them as a central part of its business model.
