MoneyGram Rolls Out Stellar-Powered Visa Debit Card in Colombia

MoneyGram has introduced a new Visa debit card that uses the Stellar blockchain to facilitate transactions. The card, which is available in Colombia first, allows users to spend USDC stablecoins instantly at any retailer that accepts Visa, with automatic conversion to local currency at checkout.

The move targets Latin America's remittance market by enabling cashless payments and plans to expand physical card issuance and regional availability by the end of 2026. Users can link the card to Apple Pay or Google Wallet for added convenience.

However, it's worth noting that stablecoin balances are not covered by deposit insurance, which may be a concern for some users.
