MoneyGram Unveils Stablecoin-Backed MoneyGram Card for Global Payments
MoneyGram has launched its MoneyGram Card, which is backed by stablecoin. The card allows customers to access cash or make payments wherever Visa is accepted, according to a press release.
The company's chairman and CEO, Anthony Soohoo, said that the MoneyGram Card gives customers more freedom and control to manage their money in one place. It builds on the power of MoneyGram's global payments network, bringing a stable-dollar balance, everyday spending, and cash access into the MoneyGram experience.
Customers can add the card to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet or pick up cash from a MoneyGram physical location. The company worked with Rain to enable stablecoin via the Stellar network.
The MoneyGram Card is available now in Colombia, with plans to launch in other global markets later this year. A physical card will also be added before the end of 2026 to enable ATM cash withdrawal.
