MoneyGram Unveils Virtual Stablecoin Card in Colombia
MoneyGram has launched a virtual stablecoin card in Colombia through its partnership with Visa and Rain. The card allows eligible customers to hold stable-dollar balances, spend through Visa's merchant network, and collect local currency through MoneyGram locations.
The virtual card is available through the MoneyGram mobile application and can be connected to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet for online and contactless payments. The company plans to enter more countries with this product in the coming months and introduce a physical version by late 2026, which will include ATM withdrawals and in-person purchases worldwide.
Rain supplies the card infrastructure connecting stablecoin balances with the Visa payment network, while Crossmint handles the wallet component used inside MoneyGram's application. The Stellar network provides the public blockchain for underlying digital transactions.
