Moody's Embeds Live Ratings onto Solana Blockchain
Moody's Ratings has made history by embedding live ratings onto Solana (SOL), marking the first time a major credit rating agency has done so on a public blockchain. This milestone was achieved through Moody's Token Integration Engine, which writes credit ratings directly into tokenized bond metadata on the Solana mainnet.
The integration took place on June 17 and follows a successful devnet trial in June 2025, starting with U.S. municipal bonds. The rollout scales up the test, where ratings were written into token metadata, allowing for automatic updates and smart contracts to read live rating fields.
Moody's plans to widen its Token Integration Engine to corporate, sovereign, and structured finance instruments, as well as other chains, as tokenization grows. Solana Foundation's Nick Ducoff called the network ready for institutional finance at scale, with Western Union, BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, and Apollo already building on the chain.
Solana's token traded near $72 on June 18, down about 13% over the past month. Moody's sees credit ratings as a language institutions use to price risk, which is becoming increasingly network-agnostic as investors transact on-chain.
