MoonPay Brings DeFi Lending to Conversational AI on Solana
MoonPay has integrated the Solana lending protocol Kamino into its AI-powered PayBox product, enabling eligible users to lend assets or borrow against collateral through conversations with ChatGPT or Claude.
The integration announced on August 27 extends PayBox beyond payments, swaps, and bridging into collateralized decentralized finance. Users can instruct the AI interface to supply tokens to Kamino in pursuit of yield or borrow USDC against collateral already placed in the protocol.
MoonPay said users can require passkey approval for every transaction or permit the AI agent to operate within preset limits, which is crucial because the software is acting on positions that can change in value after execution. The rollout follows MoonPay's earlier expansion of crypto access in the United States, including its Cash App Pay integration.
The company emphasized that a natural-language interface does not remove the mechanics or risks of DeFi lending. If collateral falls below Kamino's required threshold, liquidators may repay the debt and take part of the collateral. Execution errors are another concern when an AI system is allowed to submit transactions involving user funds.
