MoonPay Embeds Payment Tool in X's Chatbot Interface
MoonPay has integrated its payment and wallet tool, PayBox, into X's chatbot interface Grok. This allows users to prepare crypto transactions before approving them with a passkey.
Type 'onramp $100 into PYUSD' into Grok, and MoonPay wants this to initiate a crypto trade, not complete it. The company announced on August 31 that PayBox prepares the transaction and asks for passkey approval before money moves.
This is not new technology, PayBox was launched by MoonPay in July for ChatGPT and Claude. However, its integration with Grok adds reach and makes the product more visible to a wider audience.
MoonPay's CEO Ivan Soto-Wright has stated that money is moving into conversation as cards once hid cash and phones hid cards. The company aims to control the approval and wallet layer if chatbots become places where people shop, trade, and move money.
