MoonPay Wins EMI License to Issue Regulated Euro Stablecoins Across Europe
MoonPay has secured an Electronic Money Institution (EMI) license from the Dutch Central Bank, allowing it to issue regulated euro-denominated stablecoins across Europe.
The approval also enables MoonPay to offer payment accounts and related services, expanding its position in Europe's growing stablecoin market.
MoonPay received the EMI license on September 8, 2026, from De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB), which gives it 'broader options from the Netherlands' for building stablecoin and payment products across Europe.
The company now has both a MiCA Crypto-Asset Service Provider (CASP) authorization and an EMI license within the same entity, making it one of three Netherlands-based firms to hold both licenses.
