MoonPay's PayBox Brings Blockchain Interaction to AI Assistants
MoonPay has introduced PayBox, a payment vault that enables users of AI assistants like ChatGPT and Claude to interact with the blockchain without leaving their conversation. The tool allows users to prepare transfers, swaps, and DeFi transactions using natural language commands.
PayBox uses multi-party computing (MPC) and trusted execution environments to protect private keys, ensuring that neither the AI assistant nor the platform itself can independently access the user's funds. Transactions require approval via a passkey or predefined spending limits can be set so the AI operates autonomously within strict parameters.
The tool supports multiple blockchain networks and traditional payment methods, including debit cards, bank transfers, and platforms like Apple Pay. It is also compatible with x402, an open payment protocol currently managed by the Linux Foundation, which has recorded over 12.7 million transactions in the last 30 days.
