MoonPay's PayBox Unveils AI-Powered Crypto Transactions

MoonPay has launched PayBox, a payment vault that enables ChatGPT and Claude users to authorize AI transactions in crypto. This allows users to connect their wallets and payment methods, which can then be used by the AI to make token swaps, crosschain transfers, and DeFi interactions through natural-language prompts.

The platform uses multi-party computation and trusted execution environments to protect wallet keys, preventing either the AI assistant or MoonPay from accessing user funds independently. Users can approve each transaction with a passkey or set spending limits that allow the AI to execute actions automatically.

MoonPay also supports multiple blockchains and payment methods, including debit cards, bank accounts, Apple Pay, and PayPal. The company has also integrated its software development kit for developers to integrate the payment vault into their own AI applications.

PayBox also supports x402, an open payment protocol developed by Coinbase that enables AI agents to make internet-native payments. This integration allows users to make payments through a variety of services, including Amazon Web Services and Fireblocks.
