Morgan Stanley Expands Crypto ETF Lineup with Ethereum and Solana Trusts
Morgan Stanley has expanded its cryptocurrency exchange-traded fund (ETF) lineup by launching two new trusts that track the prices of Ethereum and Solana. The Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust (MSSE) and the Morgan Stanley Solana Trust (MSOL) were introduced on July 28, both with an expense ratio of 14 basis points.
The funds offer investors exposure to the spot price of ETH and SOL, as well as additional income generated through staking yields. The trusts hold physical tokens in partnership with institutional crypto custodians and track the performance of the underlying cryptocurrencies using CoinDesk benchmarks.
Morgan Stanley's expansion into Ethereum and Solana follows the success of its Bitcoin Trust (MSBT), which has maintained strong inflows despite a decline in demand for spot Bitcoin ETFs. The firm's massive distribution network, including 16,000 wealth advisors managing over $9 trillion in client assets, is expected to drive steady, fee-based inflows into the new trusts.
