Morgan Stanley Expands Crypto Lineup with Ether, Solana ETPs
Morgan Stanley has expanded its lineup of cryptocurrency exchange-traded products (ETPs) to include Ether and Solana. The two new funds, Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust and Morgan Stanley Solana Trust, track the performance of Ether and Solana respectively, using CoinDesk benchmarks. Both ETPs carry a 0.14% expense ratio and will stake a portion of their holdings, with staking rewards passed through to investors.
The launch follows Morgan Stanley's earlier rollout of spot cryptocurrency trading on its E*TRADE platform, which allows eligible clients to buy, sell, and hold Bitcoin, Ether, and Solana through a partnership with Zero Hash. The firm had previously launched the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust in April, becoming the first major US commercial bank to offer a spot Bitcoin ETF.
The two new funds have no staking rewards retention for Morgan Stanley, meaning all earnings will be passed on to investors. As of July 16, the Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust had over $381 million in assets under management.
