Morgan Stanley Launches Staking ETPs for Ethereum and Solana
Morgan Stanley Investment Management has launched two new exchange-traded products (ETPs) that allow investors to gain exposure to Ethereum and Solana, both of which offer staking rewards. This move follows the launch of a Bitcoin ETP in April 2026, which had accumulated over $381M in assets under management by July 16.
The new ETPs, Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust (MSSE) and Morgan Stanley Solana Trust (MSOL), have a 0.14% expense ratio and will pass all staking rewards directly to investors. This is a first in the crypto ETP space, as other funds often retain a portion of the rewards.
The launch of these ETPs comes at a time when Ethereum and Solana are trading up, with ETH sitting at $1,910 and SOL at $73.80. The introduction of institutional demand through these products is expected to create a slow but consistent demand floor for SOL, potentially driving its price higher.
The competitive pressure on fees is also significant, as Morgan Stanley's products undercut many existing crypto ETPs. With a network of approximately 19,000 financial advisers, the firm has a distribution advantage that will help to drive adoption and growth in these new funds.
