Morgan Stanley's Digital Assets Head Amy Oldenburg spoke with Spencer Nichols about the bank's $600M+ spot Bitcoin ETP, which launched in April and crossed that threshold within months. This product made Morgan Stanley the first global systemically important bank to offer a spot Bitcoin exchange-traded product (ETP). According to Oldenburg, the firm priced its Bitcoin ETP lower than competing spot Bitcoin ETFs.

Oldenburg also discussed Morgan Stanley's 0-4% allocation framework across three investor risk profiles. The framework is designed to help clients allocate their assets to Bitcoin and other digital assets. She noted that the firm has no equivalent gold allocation, which some see as a nod to the 'digital gold' thesis, the idea that Bitcoin serves as a store of value similar to traditional gold.

When asked about the possibility of putting Bitcoin on Morgan Stanley's own balance sheet, Oldenburg stated that there are still regulatory hurdles to clear. However, she expressed confidence in the firm's ability to navigate these challenges and potentially make such a move in the future.
