Morgan Stanley's Bitcoin Trust Sees $66.8 Million Net Asset Decline Amid Strong Share Contributions
Morgan Stanley's Bitcoin Trust (MSBT) has been on a rollercoaster ride since its inception. Despite bringing in $371.1 million of gross share contributions between April 7 and June 30, the trust saw a significant decrease in net assets from operations, totaling $66.8 million.
The majority of this decline can be attributed to the depreciation of Bitcoin itself, which accounted for nearly 99% of the operating-period decrease. The remaining balance consisted of realized Bitcoin losses and sponsor fees.
Interestingly, MSBT saw a net creation activity, with 17.9 million shares issued and 250,000 redeemed during the reporting period. This resulted in a net addition of $365.84 million through capital transactions.
