Moscow Banned from Crypto Mining Until 2032

Share

Russia is expanding its regional crypto mining ban to Moscow and parts of the Kursk Region, affecting over 3.6 gigawatts of power capacity by 2032.

The ban, set to take effect on August 15, will remain in place until December 31, 2032, according to Government Resolution No. 936.

Moscow's power system is expected to consume approximately one gigawatt of energy due to mining demand, with regional officials warning that operating without a year-round restriction could lead to 'risks of a shortage of power capacity.'
